Meet Chris
Chris Hoang was born and raised in the Sacramento area, his entire life. His parents were refugees from Vietnam and were able to contribute to the community by becoming a doctor and a dentist. Chris is inspired by the work his parents do to help others every day, and hopes to serve others in his own way.
Ever since middle school, Chris has always been involved in ways to make a difference. In high school, he volunteered for various political candidates. He had the opportunity to work for Congresswoman Doris Matsui over the summer as an intern, a rare experience for someone of such a young age. Outside of politics, Chris also had the opportunity to volunteer for various charities across the Sacramento area.
Chris then attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Linguistics. He had the privilege of working for former Assemblyman Ken Cooley, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. Chris also volunteered for numerous campaigns across the country, including Paula Villescaz's State Senate campaign in the Sacramento area. Finally, Chris also started a Phi Gamma Delta chapter at GW, a fraternity based on the values of Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence. Chris strives to exemplify these values every day through his words and actions.
However, Chris never forgot about his roots back home and was always attentive to the issues affecting the 7th District. He’s known countless people who have had to move out of the district because of the rise in the cost of living, including those struggling to afford basic necessities and those concerned that the current Presidential administration is eroding their rights. When Chris gets elected to the California State Assembly, he promises to fight for working families, lower the cost of housing and groceries, expand abortion rights, protect LGBTQ+ rights, reduce crime, fight against climate change, and give California the tools and resources necessary to resist against Trump and his cronies.
Chris didn’t plan on running for State Assembly at such a young age. He isn’t a wealthy, well-connected businessman or lawyer, and doesn’t come from a family with political connections. He is simply a passionate individual who hopes to represent you in the State Assembly and fight for positive change.
