Meet Chris

Chris Hoang was born and raised in the Sacramento area. He has lived in our local community his entire life. His parents were refugees from Vietnam, but found the American Dream by working in healthcare. Chris is inspired by the work his parents do to help others, and hopes to serve the community in his own way.

Chris attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Linguistics. He had the privilege of working for former Assemblyman Ken Cooley, Congresswoman Doris Matsui, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Chris also volunteered for numerous campaigns across the country, including Paula Villescaz's State Senate campaign in the Sacramento area. Additionally, Chris started a Phi Gamma Delta chapter at his university, a fraternity based on the values of Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence. Chris strives to exemplify these values every day through his words and actions.

Chris has met countless people who have had to move out of the district because of the rise in the cost of living, including those struggling to afford basic necessities and those concerned that the current Presidential administration is eroding their rights. When Chris gets elected to the California State Assembly, he promises to fight for working families, lower the cost of housing and groceries, expand abortion rights, protect LGBTQ+ rights, reduce crime, fight against climate change, and give California the tools and resources necessary to resist against Trump and his cronies.

Chris never planned on running for State Assembly. He isn’t a wealthy, well-connected businessman or lawyer, and doesn’t come from a family with political connections. He is simply a passionate community leader who hopes to represent you in Sacramento and fight for positive change.
